Can foster parenting be a full-time job?
Judith O asked:
I’d love to be a foster parent and make a difference in the lives of children. I am a single parent and I work full time and I’m sure that trying to be a foster parent and continuing to work would be a disaster. While I have no desires to get rich, is it possible to make foster parenting my job? Does it pay enough to cover housing, food, etc?

It probably depends on where you live. I know that I had a single friend who was looking into fostering and they wanted her to quit her job so she would be home full-time and she decided not to do it, because she didn’t think it would be enough money.

No there is not a lot of money. What money you get is for the foster child. What would you and your children live on? What about medical coverage? Being a foster parent is something you do to make a difference in the world, not earn an income
