How much are foster parents paid in pennsylvania?

Foster Parenting
CMDS asked:

I am not looking for answers that say “it depends on the state” If anyone knows specifically how much foster parents are paid per child in Pennsylvania- then that’s what I am looking for. Just a note- I am not looking at this as an income but rather because I do not make very much but would love to have one foster child and perhaps adopt him or her later but right now do not make much money.
Will people please stop telling me to not foster for income. I plainly stated that this was NOT my intention. I am 22 years old and I want to foster a kid because I love kids especially troubled ones. However, I just wanted to know what the supplement is because I can just afford myself right now and wanted to see if the supplement would pay for the child’s needs. I have no intention on making money from this. Thank you.

Your getting into it for the wrong reason. To supplement your income is not a reason to take in a kid.

If you can’t afford to really look after yourself I don’t think it is fair to bring a child into that. obvisouly your intentions are good but i would not consider that a source of additional income i would think that money is to use toward the child.

Sorry to say it but it depends on the organization you go with. Your best bet is to call around to different ones and ask and then you can get questions answered such as how many kids that come in are adoptable. Just because a child is in foster care does not mean they are adoptable some actually get to go home with there family or their birth parents will not sign the adoption papers

You dont foster for income…………… you foster because you love children and you truly want to make a difference. You should not do it for personal financial gain

i don’t know the answer, but don’t listen to those people, i get your question, you want to foster kids, but you want to make sure that you can do it with the resources they give you… that is why your looking into it, because you want whats best for the child… sorry, some (most) of the people on here are very rude.

stop all the jackass answers…. this person said that they are looking into this to make sure he/she can afford the child, not to make money. So, if there is anyone out there with a real answer, feel free to respond.

Sorry but it honestly depends on the agency you work with, the age of the child and what if any special needs they have.

It basically depends on the child’s age and if he or she has a disability. If it is a “normal ” child it varies from state to state but it is approximately $13-$16 dollars per day. All health insurance, meds, and school is covered by the state 100%. You will receive an initial stipend from the agency inorder to get necessities for the child. It is between $200-$300 to buy a bed, clothing, toiletries, etc. The agency will get things for the child too, thru donations. If a child is specialized/ disabled the stipend is substanitally more to compinsate for additional needs. Please feel free to email me about any further questions you may have. I am a current foster parent in the process of adopting 3 children. I have many resources that I can help you to better understand the entire process.-Myrna
