Is gay adoption and gay foster parenting healthy for children?

Foster Parenting
bibbitybobbityboo asked:

I have a debate about this topic in 2 weeks, and I was assigned to the YES group. I would like to take some thought and opinions from people that might be able to help me on my debate. Thanks!

    I can’t give you a YES, sorry.

  2. Lucid One Says:

    i don’t think so.

i’m sure gays can be most loving parents, even better than straight. but this is not the issue.

i don’t have a problem with gays. they are accepted in society, however they should not be told it is “normal” and therefore raising a child in this environment will improve their chances of becoming gay.

i know it sounds harsh, but it is the truth most are afraid to admit. gay is not natural and will alter our future if this behaviour is not stopped.

I think that the only thing that matters is that parents whether gay or straight love the child. There are so many children out there that need families to love them and as long as the couple is stable, has a good income, and committed to one another, then I say why not? It would be better to have a loving family then spend the rest of your childhood in foster care or an orphanage. Don’t you think?

  4. BetsyF Says:

its sad to think that any child would be subject to an unnatural environment. A healthy home is one that has two gender parents. I know that not all are good but it is the natural thing.

  5. everything's eventual Says:

Any time a child is loved and wanted, it is healthy. It makes no difference what religion, race, sexual orientation, or gender you are. What matters is ,can you love, nurture, and and help make that child productive and well rounded. I think it is much better to raise a child with an open mind to different and diverse lifestyles than to have them grow up in fear and hatred of people that are less “conventional” ….I have two children and they already see that my friends are of different religions, color, political back rounds, and that I have friends who are gay and transgendered. The only requirement to being in our life is that you are a caring and loving person, with compassion and intelligence. If all children were brought up in this manner the world would be a much happier and safer place to live.

    Well, how about acting up???

You been “assigned” to the yes group…. arent there enough supporters for that in your class?
If you would put it to a public vote most people would not let queers raise the children.
In fact MOST children in “gay” families are ashame of their “parents”.
In fact a “gay” society would die out because they cant multiply, so why should society trust them with their kids?

You arent free to decide what group you would like to be in, those people against gays arent free to speak their mind, I suppose its only a matter of time till child molesters will have the right to live out their sexuality too….

  7. idjohndee Says:

Sorry folks, but homosexuality is natural, as evidenced by the countless mammals that practise it, our primate relations in particular. Just last week my tomcat had a midnight liasion with another tom.

Motorways, computers, TV, elections etc are not natural.

And enough with the “I don’t have a problem with gays, but they’re not normal” attitude. It means you have a problem with gays but you recognise you’re not allowed to admit it anymore.

Gays couples have to fight very hard against a society that hates them and so their bond is often actually tighter and more loving than your average “well our kids just sorta happened” heterosexual couple. And given that they are actually asking and fighting for children rather than just lying back and not bothering with contraception …

And guess what? Gay parents don’t have gay kids, they have open-minded kids.

The only real reason against gay couples adopting children is that all the “I don’t have a problem with gays, but they’re not normal” people will tease the children at school.

I am raising both of my kids in a gay parent environment and believe me…it is more sound and loving than the ‘both gender’ home that I grew up in. As long as the child is loved who has the right to judge??? You don’t have to be a woman to discuss with your daughter about puberty—you just have to have an open mind and heart. Not to mention enough brains to TALK to your kids instead of leaving them to society’s wolves.

    Of course it is….

    Love is love….

THnere are 100 thousand children that need parents in the USA…

yes.. I am an social worker.. working in adoption and I have placed children in G& L homes and had a tremendous amount of success. The debate lies in taking a child and exposing them to even more adversity by making them more different becuase they have 2 moms or 2 days. The bottom line is that children need loving stable parents who are willing to love them in spite of… their backgrounds. G&L have a lot of experience with being different becuase of their sexual orientation and also becuase they have life experiences just as everyone else does. G&L parents can love, support and provide for foster/adoptive children as well as straight parents. When I place a child in a G&L family.. I go through the same process as I would for a straight family. I only ask that the G&L family identify opposite gender role models for the children and are sensitive to the needs of the children and what they will experience from other kids and adults.. I ask that they prepare the children for this on an ongoing basis and keep the lines of communication open.. Good luck on your debate.. you will stepping on a lot of toes and running into peoples prejudices and biases. Ignorance is bliss!
