A lot of states prevent you from doing that. I live in Washington, and if I were to move my son out of state (his father lives here) he could report me for kidnapping, they’d put an amber alert out on my son, and put me in jail.

Your best bet is to talk with your attorney about redrawing the parenting plan and residential schedule. If your move is due to your work or your husbands work they’ll most likely let you do it.

You could let your son live with dad.

And, if you go against the current parenting agreement, that might just happen anyway (that’s exactly why my stepdaughter lives with us, now).

Can you delay your move until your child is grown, so that you can fulfill your promise to him to have both mom & dad actively in his life throughout his childhood? No matter how old he is now, the years just fly by until they’re grown & gone.
